ABORT
Cease action / attack/ event/ mission FAC directs aircrew to abort the attack. This is a mandatory instruction.

- Involved in a visual flight and unable to leave.
- Orbit about a specific point; refuelling track flown by tanker.

Height of friendly aircraft in thousands of ft from mean sea level (MSL).
ANYFACE
Friendly GCI / AEW & CS / C2 agency when callsign is not known.
AS FRAGGED
Unit performing exactly as stated by the ATO.
AUTHENTICATE
To request a response for a coded challenge
AUTOCAT
Comms relay using automatic retransmission.
BANDIT
An aircraft identified as enemy, in accordance with theatre identification (ID) criteria.
BARRIER
Set up barrier as indicated (e.g. sonobuoy axix position).
BASE (plus number)
Reference Number to indicate info, such as hdgs, alt, fuels, grids etc.
BEADWINDOW
Your last transmission disclosed an essential element of friendly information.
BENT
Identified system is inoperative.
BINGO
Fuel state needed for recovery.
BIRD
Friendly Surface-to-air missle.
BLEMISH
Notification of possible blue-on-blue (fratricide) or blue-on-neutral situation.
BLIND
No visual contact with FRIENDLY aircraft/ground position. Opposite of VISUAL.
BOGEY
Unidentified aircraft.
BOGEY DOPE
Request target information (BRAA) to the specified target. If a treat is not specified Bearing/Range will be given to the closest threat.
BREAK (direction)
Perform „An immediate max performance turn in the direction indicated“.
BREAK CLEAN
Withdraw independently or in loose formation to a given RV.
BROWNIE
Photographic devices.
BRAA
Following formation is in tac ctrl format providing tgt Brg, Range Alt and Aspect relative to the specified friendly Ac.
BUDDY LASE / GUIDE
To have guidance of a weapon from a source other than delivering Ac.
BUDDY SPIKE
RWR indication of a friendly AI-radar lock-on („RED 3, BUDDY SPIKED, BULLSEYE 240/15“).
BUGOUT (Direction)
Seperation from that particular engagement / attack / operations; no intent to re-engage / return.
BULLDOG
Surface / subsurface-to-surface launched missile.
BULLSEYE
A common reference point position of an object will be established by bearing (magnetic) and range (NM) from this point.
BUSTER
Fly at max power.
CANARY
I Band transponder.
CAP
Establish orbit at specified location.
CAPTURED
Aircrew has identified and is able to track a specified A/G target with an onboard sensor.
CATERPILLAR
No2 covers lead, then with lead firm, moves upto (but not beyond) lead. Lead always remains in front.
CEASE (activity)
Discontinue stated activity; e.g., CEASE SPARKLE, CEASE LASER, FIRE etc.
CHATTERMARK
Commence briefed radio procedures to counter communication jamming.
CHECK
Directive to momentarily monitor (specified items / systems). No response is required if status is normal (on turn on to nominated track if 30 deg or less).

Requested action is authorized (no engaged or support roles are assumed).
COLD
Threat group going away.
CONFETTI
Chaff lane or CORRIDOR.
CONTACT
Acknowledges sighting of a specified reference point (either visually or via sensor).
CONTINUE
Continue present manoeuvre, does not imply a change in clearance to engage or expend ordnance.
CONTINUE DRY
Continue present manoeuvre, ordnance release is not authorized. Used to provide approval to aircraft to continue the pass without expending ordnance during Type 1, 2, or 3 control (JTAC must use „Type 3, CONTINUE DRY“ for dry Type 3 control).
COUNTER (Dir)
Positive turn to face (min sep) threat.
CRUISE
Return to cruise speed (after buster or gate).
CYCLOPS
Any UAV.
DARKNESS
Nav lights off.
DAYLIGHT
Nav lights on.
DEADEYE
Laser designator is inoperative.
DEVIL
LZ is hot.
DIG
Widen formation (in response to a threat).
DUCK
Descend and increase speed.
ENGAGE
A fire control order used to direct or authorize units and/or weapons systems to fire on a designated target.
