the process by which your body takes in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide

what is respiration?

respiration is NOT the same as breathing.
Respiration is the process where oxygen reacts to glucose,resulting in carbon dioxide,water and energy.

intercostal muscles relax
the volume inside the chest gets smaller
ribs move down and in
the diaphragm relaxes

what happens when we inhale air?
A
intercostal muscles contracts
the volume inside the chest gets bigger
ribs move up and out
the diaphragm contracts

A
remains the same
