•MEDIAL fragment is elevated (due to sternocleidomastoid)
• LATERAL fragment is depressed (due to the weight of the arm) • Vessel most likely injured:subclavian vein internal bleeding

• One of the most frequently fractured bones (especially at the junction of middle & lateral 1/3)
Cause
• Direct fall onto shoulder
• Indirect due to transmission of force from arm & forearm to shoulder during a fall on an outstretched hand
