what are the contraindications for Breast feeding?

A

absolute contraindications:-
a) Lactose intolerance (congenital Lactase deficiency)
b) Galactosemia
c) mother on chemotherapy/Radiotherapy

Relative contraindications:-
a) HIV mother (mother has to take antiretroviral therapy & baby has to take nevirapine prophylaxis)

b) Tuberculosis If mother is on anti tubercular treatment / has completed less than2 weeks

c) Herpes simplex /herpes zoster Lesions on breast

A

Milk secreted by mother who has delivered a preterm baby

it contains more sodium, Protein, Iron, sugars than normal breast milk.
