What are the causes of breast cancer?
Breast cancer is the abnormal growth of cells, usually in the breasts ducts or lobules.
What are the risk factors of breast cancer?
Inherited gene mutations. beginning period before the age of 12. beginning menopause at an older age. radiation exposure. alcohol.
What are the signs and symptoms of breast cancer?
New lumps on the breast, thickening of one breast. change in nipple shape and/or discharge. changes in the shape of the breast. discomfort in the armpit. swollen lymph nodes.
treatment for breast cancer
Surgery - cutting the cancerous tissue
chemotherapy - using medicines to shrink or kill the cancer.
hormonal therapy - blocking cancer cells from getting the hormones required to grow.
radiation therapy - using high-energy rays to kill the cancer cells
screening processes for breast cancer
Mammograms - low energy x-ray to screen an image of the breast.
MRI - Mri’s can be used to detect breast cancer by taking images of the tissues.
multiple images are taken and put together to create a detailed image of the breast.
