Brake Systems Flashcards
Vacuum Power Booster
It helps boost the performance of the brakes and helps the driver apply pressure on the brake pedal easier.
Brake Fluid Reservoir
Canisters that connect to the brake master cylinder
Master Cylinder
Converts pressure that was on the brake pedal to hydraulic pressure by giving brake fluid to the brake circuit and manually controlling that due to mechanical force
Brake Pedal
Connect to the Master cylinder and vacuum power booster, its purpose is to apply pressure to the master cylinder
Brake Line
It uses the brake fluid to apply pressure on the brake calipers and then applied friction to the rotor with brake pads
Brake Hose
Carries brake fluid from a brake line fixed to a car’s body the rest of the way to the caliper on the wheel
Parking Brake Cables
Make a necessary force to make a car stop
Parking Brake Adjusters
Unscrews a little bit when it turns so it fills the gap
Wheel Hub
The wheel hub is connected/sits between the suspension hub and the wheel, its purpose is to help the wheel spin freely. It is also connected to the steering system
Wheel Studs
To connect and align the rim to the wheel hub, they are threaded to screw on the lugs to tighten the connection between the rim and the wheel hub
Dust Cap
Prevents Dirt, Dust, and debris from getting onto the other side of what its covering
Brake Pad
Applies to pressure towards the Brake Caliper using hydraulic pressure
Slide Pin
It is to help ensure that the brake caliper stays together during operation
Bleed valve
It is there to bleed liquids/gas out of the brake system.
Caliper
Houses the main system of the disc brake system, houses the brake pad and pistons
