Brainstem (John Reynolds lectures) Flashcards
Portions of the tongue via which nerves and which ganglia?
Which nucleus does it go to?
Anterior 2/3 via facial (CN7) via geniculate ganglia.
Posterior 1/3 via glossopharyngeal (CN9) via inferior ganglia.
Pharynx via 10/CN11 via inferior ganglia.
Goes to nucleus of tractus solitarius.
Which salivatory nuclei supply what?
What nerves do they go via?
Inferior salivatory via glossopharyngeal nerve and innervates parotid gland.
Superior salivatory via facial and innervates submandibular and sublingual.
What does edwvinger vestval nucleus innervate and what nerve does it go via?
EW (visceral motor): controls pupillary constriction via occulomotor.
What does dorsal motor nucleus control? Which cranial nerve does it travel via?
Dorsal motor nucleus runs via 10/Cr11. Goes to lots of postganglionic ganglia which control secretion (pancreas, gastric glands, lungs) and cause bronchoconstriction. Not involved in heart ganglion as this comes from nucleus ambiguous.
- List the neural pathways and effector organs contributing to branchial motor functions (via nucleus ambiguous)
