medulloblastoma

A

most common malignant primary brain tumor of childhood. arises from cerebellum. presents with increased ICP, ataxia or both. Contrast enhanced imaging of entire brain and spinal cord is indicated because it has a high tendency to metastasize to other parts of the CNS.

A

most common benign brain tumor. treatment is surgical for symptomatic lesions and observation for small asymptomatic lesions.

primary cns lymphoma

A

increased frequency due to AIDS patients. can spread to the CSF, eye and bone. most commonly presents as change in mental status. treatment is chemo with or without radiation.
