Brain Structure Explanation For Aggression ( Biological ) Flashcards
What does the amygdala do? A01
It controls emotions
How does the amygdala cause aggression ? A03
The more activity in the amygdala, the more aggressive the person will be
Who is the Supporting evidence for the amygdala theory? A03
Raine , he found out about asymmetrical amygdala activity.
If the right side of the amygdala is more active then the left side then the person is more likely to be aggressive
What does the prefrontal cortex do ? A01
It’s involved with decision making & impulse control
How does the prefrontal cortex explain aggression ? A03
If it is damaged Small & underdeveloped Or Lower activity Then it will cause an individual to be aggressive
What does the hypothalamus do? A01
It regulates hormones
How does the hypothalamus cause aggression ? A03
If it’s not doing it’s job properly, such as not regulating hormones such as testosterone which causes aggression, this will lead someone to be aggressive
