Reacts with other glands to control growth, metabolism, and reproduction; secretes FSH and LH

What does the optic nerve do?
It brings visual signals from the retina to the brain
Optic chiasma
Is the part of the brain where the optic nerves partially cross
What does the olfactory bulb do?
It passes olfactory impulses from the nasal cavity to the brain

A huge nerve tract connecting the two cerebral hemispheres
What is the thalamus responsible for?
It relays sensory information to the cerebrum
What does the hypothalamus do?
It monitors internal conditions and emotional states; control of thirst, hunger, temperature, rage, sex drive; control of pituitary gland; secretes FSHRF and LHRF

Pine cone shaped endocrine gland influencing reproduction and day/night rhythms; secretes melatonin
