Brain Flashcards
Name the three nerve types
Multi polar, Biopolar and Unipolar
Function of dendrites
Recieve information from other neurons
Function of Cell body/Soma
Protect Nucleus, keep it negatively charged
Function of Nucleus
The center of the Neuron, sends out neurotransmitters
Function of Axon Hillock
“Gate keeper”
Function of Axon
Transfer information from the cell body
Name three functions of neurons
Sensory-, Motor- and interneurons
What nerve types is Sensory Neurons? And what are their function?
Unipolar and Biopolar. Sends information from brain to the periphery. Sight, touch and temperature etc.
What nerve types is Motor Neurons? And what are their function?
Multipolar. Sends information from motor cortex to periphery.
What nerve types is Inter Neurons? And what are their functions?
Multipolar. Sends signals from neurons in the brain. Memory and cognition.
What is CNS?
Central Nervous System = brain and spinal cord
What is PNS?
Peripheral Nervous System = All nerves in the body
What are the function of The Somatic Nervous system and where is it placed?
Controls movement in the body by skeletal muscles. And is placed in the PNS.
What are the function of The Autonomic Nervous system and where is it placed?
Have both parasympatic (normal) and sympatic (Ready for action). Is placed in PNS
