Compare radionuclide imaging of the brain
A
Conventional brain scan (BBB) - Tc DPTA and pertechnetate to detect areas of BBB breakdown - not needed if have CT /MR

Regional cerebral blood flow imaging
- mapping, confirm brain death etc
Tc HMPAO/ exametazime - 500 MBq (5 mSv ED)
Vs Thalium brain scan - - tumour grading and differentiation of post surgical/ radiotherapy change from residual or recurrent tumours
201 Thallium 100 MBq (25 mSv ED)
Vs Dopamine transporter ligand Ioflupane 134-I FP-CIT - striatal uptake in Parkinson’s vs other movement disorders
