Bradyarrhythmias Flashcards
Sinus Arrest
SA Node doesn’t fire off
Pause greater than 2 sec.
Junctional Rhythm
No atrial activity; NO P-Waves
AV Junction is pacemaker (40-60 bpm)
Slower, wider QRS complex/could also be narrow
Tachy-Brady Syndrome
episodes of slow and fast from SA Node; Sinus Node dysfunction
First Degree AV Block
Slowing conduction within AV Node
PR Interval is over .2 sec/200 msec
Asymptomatic, no treatment necessary
Second Degree AV Block- Mobitz I (Wenkebach Block)
Prolongation of PR Interval until there is failure to conduct a ventricular beat; block is located in the AV Node
Second Degree AV Block- Mobitz II
Fixed PR Interval
Dropped QRS complex (nonconducted beats) can be 2:1 ratio P Wave: QRS complex
High Grade AV Block-can progress to complete heart block
Block is located in the Bundle of HIS, malignant form of heart block
Emergency due to risk of progression-Pacemaker
Complete Heart Block
No conduction from the Atria to the Ventricles
P-Waves separate and independent of Ventricles (QRS complex)
Atrial Rate > Ventricular Rate
Pt present with synocope-medical emergency-pacemaker
Wide QRS complex
Bradyarrhythmias
Caused by 2 Problems:
- Impulse Formation: not getting started (Sinus Node)
- Impulse Conduction: not getting through (AV Node)
