Anyone not attending church service or Blasphemed God or a preacher would be punished by whipping and having their tongue bored through with a long blunt needle.
Severe drought let to severe food shortages for the settlers and Indians. Both sides were ripping off the meager food supplies. Seventeen men mutinied and stole a boat hoping to get some food from the Indians. They were never heard from again. At the end, Jamestown lost 130 settlers.
Soldiers put to death Indians of all ages and stole their supplies and food.
The punishment for malicious behavior was sentenced to have his ears nailed to the town’s pillory for three days and publicly whipped each day.
Card 2
Spain claimed all the New World was theirs and wouldn’t allow other nations to travel to the new world. The British denied this and many ships were turned away from the new world.
The capture and sale of human beings was not introduced by Europeans. It was embedded in African culture and had a long history.
In early 16th century, Kongo was exporting 2,000 slaves each year! Slave ships to America normally lost 1/3 the slave cargo on the voyage.

By the time the first slaves arrived in Virginia, half a million slaves had already been sent to Spanish America and Brazil.
March 22, 1622 a Massive Indian attack on the colony. 350 English men and women and children killed in their homes and at work. Churches and houses were burned to the ground.
After endless Indian attacks England sent the Virginia colony massive amounts of weapons to kill and destroy Indians. Even Armor chain which protected the colony because the Indian stone arrow heads could not penetrate the chain armor. In addition to this the colonist started cutting off Indian heads!
Card 4
Then colonist called a peace meeting with all the Indian Chiefs. After a couple of speeches, the White men opens up cases of wine and drank from the firt couple of bottles to show the indian Chiefs that the wine was not poison. But the first couple of bottles were decoys as the other cases of wine were poisoned. The chiefs drank their fill, then they all got sick and died.
The colonists kidnapped Indians and made them slaves. They cut off all the Indian toes so they could not run away!
Shipping new people from England to Jamestown, most people died from starvation and no sanitation and vast ovecrowding of the ships. 1622-1623, At least a thousand settlers perished!
NOTE: MN: Cutting off Indian heads is what started the Indians to scalp the white man. REM Custer’s last stand the Indian women came after the battle and cut off all the white soldiers heads and hands.
