Bowlby Theory of Monotropy Flashcards
Bowlby believed attatchment was….
An innate system that give human survival advantages.
The IWM…
is a mental representation of relationship with caregiver
Monotropy
Bond with one caregiver is more important than others
Primary attachment figure

Socials releasers
Born with innate ‘cute’ behaviours such as smiling to activate adult attachments
Law of continuity
More constant childs care better the attatchment
Law of accumulated seperation
Effects of seperation add up. Safest does is ‘0’
Sensitive period
2 years long- child needs attatchment here or struggle in later life
Critical period
At 2 years and IWM creates a representation of relationship based on the attatchment
Attatchment = good
No attatchment = bad
