6 building and a bridge destroyed Cars were washed into harbour Windows were ripped out of buildings Roads swept away 10 foot of water swept through village Trees where liked up 30 foot high against buildings The bridge got blocked by trees and cars

The clean up cost millions
The village is totally reliant on tourism for income

Coast guards watched the harbour entrance to make sure no one was swept away
Firemen cut their way into the roofs of buildings to allow people trapped inside to escape
1000 people evacuated
More that 120 people airlifted
7 helicopters were deployed to rescue trapped people
