what are the 3 elements that compose custom duties?
- the tariff = rate, the price, depends on what the good is and where it comes from
- the origin= EU/ non EU goods (we look at where they are made, produced, not where its shipped from)
- the value= of the goods. we get it from either the transaction value (price paid for the import) or from the costs of the material of the product from manufacturer
what are the custom clearance ?
for the import : an entry summary declaration of goods, notification of arrival, goods stays there for awhile, notification of good and then the good arrives
for the export : pre-departure declaration, presentation of goods to custom office, temporary storage, released to export.
what are the custom procedures?
there is release for free circulation : gives non Eu goods liberty of free circulation (become EU goods)
for external transit : suspension of application of duties (once they paid to enter EU, no need to pay other duties)
for internal transit : EU goods can be moved from one place to another w/out paying.
