What are the 4 types of Mirroring?

What is verbal mirroring?
Repeat the last few words the other person has said.
What is tone mirroring?
Match the tone and pace of the other persons voice.
What is body language mirroring?
Subtly mimic the other persons body language.
What is content mirroring?
Reflect back the content of what the other person says, either by paraphrasing or summarizing their points.
What is an example of verbal mirroring?
Other Person: “I’m really concerned about meeting the deadline.”
Me: “Meeting the deadline?”
What is an example of tone mirroring?
If they speak slowly and calmly, do the same. If they’re excited, mirror their energy level.
What is an example of body language mirroring?
Lean forward or cross your arms, like they are doing, to create a sense of rapport.
What is an example of content mirroring?
Other Person: “We’re concerned about the quality of the product.”
Me: “So, you’re worried about the products quality?”
What is the purpose of Mirroring?
It helps create a sense of connection and understanding, making the other person feel heard and validated, which can lead to more productive negotiations.
