What is the goal of Christian counseling?
Holiness (not necessarily happiness)
Following the truth may not be easy in the beginning, for it calls for self-denial
What are the 3 relational boundaries a counsellor must set?
- Boundary of Confidentiality
- Boundary of Gender
- Boundary of Referral
What are the exception to the boundary of Confidentiality
Telling parents or guardians when the counselee’s life is in danger
- or when someone else’s life is in danger.
What are the two exceptions to the boundary of Gender?

What are the characteristics of a good counselor?
- Close communion with God - living himself guided by God’s counseling
- Comfortable to talk to - relate well to people, friendly, warm, put others at ease, good listeners, people feel easy to open up to
- Compassionate - appreciate difficulties, without begin judgmental
- Competent - aquainted with Scriptures, are teachable, costant desire to learn more
- Commanding respect - good character, integrity, consistency, genuiness, counselee must take his words seriously
Who needs counseling?
- Anyone facing difficulties he struggle to cope with
- Adjustment issues
- All ages, cultures, genders, educational or religious background
Why do people need counseling?
- To experience acceptance and support
- To be listened to
- To lighten one’s burden
- To obtain clarity to move forward
