Every year, a new batch of students replaced the old one, but the tradition of teasing Bonku Babu continued among all students. Some drew his cartoon on the board, some put glue on his seat. On the night of Kali Puja, they even lit a chasing rocket and set it off right behind him.

The others saw this as a golden opportunity. As Bonku Babu was returning home, he passed under a tamarind tree. Suddenly, a tall, thin figure leapt down and landed on his back. This figure has smeared himself with black ink, possibly at the suggestion of someone at the meeting.
