Bones of the forearm Flashcards
What are the two bones of the forearm and what are they held together by?
The Ulna and Radius. These are held by the interosseous membrane.
Answer the following:
- Do the bones participate at the elbow joint?
- Where does the Radius participate distally and what is the joint name?
- Does the ulnar participate with the wrist?
- What is the name of the joint where the radius and ulna participate?
- Both bones particupate at the elbow joint.
- It particupates distally at the wrist and is called the radiocarpal joint
- The ulna doesnt participate at the wrist
- The joint is the radioulnar joints
What movement does the ulna have on the radius?
It pivots upon the ulna
Where does the proximal head articulate with?
With the distal humerus and head of radius
What does the radius do upon the ulna?
It pivots to create pronation and supination
Where are the heads of the ulna and radius
The ulna’s head is distal and the radius is proximal.
What are the two parts that are considered to be the elbow joint?
The humeroulnar and humeradial joint.
The humerulnar - trochlea of the humerus articulates with the trochlear notch of the ulna
The humeroradial joint - the capitulum of the humerus articulates with the head of the radius
Elbow Joint - ligaments, describe.
On the lateral side is the radial collateral ligament which is
