Inferior
Refers to something being closer to the ground than something else
Posterior
Refers to the back of the body (i.e. everything you can see of a subject standing in anatomical position when you view them from the back
Distal
Refers to structures on a limb, that are further from the attachment of said limb to the trunk of the body
Anterior
Refers to the front of the body (i.e. everything you can see of a subject standing in anatomical position when you view them head on
Medial
Refers to something being closer to the midline than something else
Superior
Refers to something being higher (more towards the head) than something else
Proximal
Refers to structures on a limb, that are closer to the attachment of said limb to the trunk of the body
Lateral
Refers to something that is further away from the midline than something else
