The thick, fibrous, outer layer of most bones

What does the periosteum do?
A
its an important blood and nerve supply for the bone. It also is a provides a good place for ligaments and tendons to attach.

Compact/cortical bone
A
The second, smooth layer of the bone that surrounds the spongy bone beneath

Cancellous/trabecular bone
A
The spongy third layer of the bone.

what is the trabecular bone comprised of?
A
a series of arches or oriented along the lines of stress placed on the bone.

what is bone marrow and what is it’s purpose?
A
The inner most layer of the bone. Blood cells are manufactured here.
