Medulla of small bones (hands/feet)

Epiphyseas
What joint is often affected by giant cell bone tumours?
Knee (may cause fractures in this area)
What will be seen on X-ray of giant cell tumours?
Soap bubble appearence
What is the most common primary malignant bone tumour?
Osteosarcoma (affects young males)

Osteochondroma
What bone tumour is associated with Gardener’s syndrome?
Osteoma
What bone tumour will have an onion skin appearence on the diaphysis?
Ewing Sarcoma
What are the features of an osteochondroma?
- Metaphysis
- Lateral projection growth
- Covered by cartilage cap
What age range are affected by osteomas?
Middle age
How may an osteoma present?
Sinusitis or sinus pressure
-> This is due to obstruction of the ostium
What are the features of osteoid osteomas?
(location and features on X-ray)
Cortex of long bones
- Boney mass with radiolucent core
Osteoid osteomas and osteoblastomas have pain at what time of the day?
Night time bone pain
