a. Long: 2 ends with a long narrow part in the middle (ex. femur, metacarpals, phalanges)
b. Short: Looks like rocks or stones (ex. carpals tarsals, patella)
c. Flat: (ex. parietal, sternum, ribs, scapula)
d. Irregular: Left-over category (ex. pelvis, vertebrae)
Know the definition of/and be able to identify appositional and interstitial growth.
a. Appositional Growth: Width Increases
b. Interstitial Growth: Length Increases
Know the Osteon diagram and the terms that are associated with it.
a. Haversian Lamellae
b. Haversian canal
c. Osteocytes
d. Canaliculi
