Rounded articular projection

Crest
Narrow ridge of bone, usually prominent
Ex: Iliac crest
Epicondyle
Raised area on or above a condyle
EX: Medial epicondyle of humerus

Round or oval opening thru a bone
EX: Foramen magnum of occipital bone
Fossa
Shallow, basin-like depression in a bone, often serving as an articular surface
EX: Manidibular fossa of temporal bone
Head
Bony expansion carried on a narrow neck
EX: Head of femur
Meatus
Canal like passage
EX: External auditory meatus
Process
Prominence or projection
EX: zygomatic process
Sinus
Space within a bone, filled with air and lined with mucus membrane
EX: Frontal Sinus
Spine
Sharp, slender, often pointed projection
EX: Anterior Superior spine of Ilium
Trochanter
Very large blunt irregularly shaped process
EX: Greater trochanter of femur
Tubercle
Small rounded projection or process
EX: Greater tubercle of humerus
Tuberosity
Large rounded projection, may be roughened
EX: Ischial tuberosity
Stylus/Styloid Process
Pointy
EX: Styloid process of the temporal bone
