A
Hematoma formation
Clot produced in 6-8 hours. Inflammation brings phagocytic cells, new capillaries grow into damaged area.

Phase 2
A
Fibrocartilaginous callus formation.
Fibrocartilage lays down collagen.
Chondriblasts produce fibrocartilage.

Phase 3
A
Bony callus formation.
Osteoblasts secrete spongy bone that joins broken bone ends. Lasts 3-4 months.

Phase 4
A
Compact bone replaces spongy bone callus, surface is remodelled back to normal shape.
