6
Q

Simple molecule properties.

A

Low melting point, as little energy is needed to break the intermolecular forces.
Don’t conduct energy, as there are no free ions or electrons.

7
Q

Giant molecular properties.

A

Very high melting point, as structure is made up of lots of strong bonds.
Don’t conduct energy, as there are no free ions or electrons (apart from in graphite)
Very strong

8
Q

Why is graphite soft and diamond hard

A

Graphite is made from layers, which slide over each other, meaning weak intermolecular forces.
Diamond has a giant lattice structure.
