What was the Decree on Peace?
This decree stated that Russia would make peace with Germany.
What was the Decree on Land?
This decree stated that the land would be given to the peasants.
What were the Decrees on Work?
The Decrees on Work stated that the workers would have a maximum 8 hour working day, with rules about giving holidays. Workers also formed committees who would control factories.
What was the Decree on the Press?
The Decree on the Press stated that all non-Communist newspapers were banned. This meant that the Bolsheviks/Communists controlled what was published in the news.
What were the Decrees on Industry?
The Decrees on Industry followed Communist ideas, where people did not own things privately. The Bolshevik government took over control of the banks, foreign trade, large industries and railways.
What were the Decrees on Marriage?
The Decrees on Marriage made divorce easier - this was one of the ways that the Bolsheviks promoted equality by giving women more rights. Marriages could also now take place without a priest.
What were the Decrees on Education?
The Decrees on Education set up a network of schools offering free education for everyone. The aim was to wipe out illiteracy (where people could not read or write).
What were the Decrees on Equality?
The Decrees on Equality stated that all ranks in the army were abolished (got rid of). All aristocratic titles were abolished - this was to make Russia a more equal society.

The Cheka was the new secret police that was set up by the Bolsheviks to control Russia
