What are the 5 body systems?
Digestive, Circulatory, Skeletal, Respiratory, Excretory.
What are the organs of the Digestive System?
Mouth, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, anus
What does the Digestive System do?
Breaks down food into substances small enough to be absorbed into the bloodstream; separates some wastes
What are the organs of the Circulatory System?
heart, veins, arteries, blood
What does the Circulatory System do?
Carries oxygen and nutrients to cells and waste materials away from cells via the blood
What are the organs of the Skeletal System?
the spine and all bones
What does the Skeletal System do?
Gives body structure and supports and protects other organs; provides attachment for muscles
What are the organs of the Respiratory System?
windpipe, lungs, alveoli, diaphragm
What does the Respiratory System do?
filters oxygen from the air and transfers it to the blood so that is taken to all other parts of the body removes carbon dioxide from cells via blood back to the lungs
What are the organs of the Excretory System?
kidneys, liver, bladder, urethra, skin, lungs
What does the Excretory System do?
Processes and filters out wastes and controls the amount and content of body fluids
