What is the Metabolic Needs of life?
3 min without air, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food
What is the equation for Photosynesis?
6CO2 + 6HO2 –> C6H12O6 +6O2
What is the equation for Cellular Respiration?
C6H12O6 +6O2 –> 6CO2 +6HO2
What factor limits the size of a cell?
Surface Area to Volume ratio
Nucleo-cyptoplasmic ratio
Fragility of membrane
Mechanical structures necessary to hold the cell together (and the content of the cell in place.
What are endotherms and exotherms?
Endotherms are warm blooded animals like mice, hummingbirds and some fish
Exotherms are cold blooded animals like amphibians, reptiles and insects
How does a multicellular organism overcome the factor that limits the size of unicellular organisms?
Multicellular organisms work together in order to keep this from happening. Large animals have organs such as kidneys, lungs and intestines that increase the surface area available for exchange processes, and a circulatory system to move material and heat energy between the surface and the core of the organism
What is the difference of diffusion and osmosis
Diffusion is the random movement of a substance through a high concentration to a low concentration area. For this to be consider diffusion it must pass through a semi permeable membrane
