Body Systems Flashcards
Integumentary System
The skin, hair and nails from the body’s outer covering or integument.
Muscular system
The Muscular system consists of layers that cover muscle that cover the bones of the skeleton, extend across joints and could contract and and relax to produce moments.
Skeleton system
The skeleton is a strong yet flexible framework of bones and connection tissue. It provides support for the body and and protection for many of it’s internal parts
Nervous system
The nervous system is the body’s main control system. It consists of the brain, the spinal cord and a network of of nerves that extend out to the rest of the body.
Circulatory system
This system consists of the hart and a network of vessels that carry the blood. It supplies oxygen and nutrients of the blood cells and removes waste products.
Lympathic system
This system is a network of vessels that collects fluid from the tissues and return it to the blood. It also contains groups of cells that protect the body against infection
Respiratory system
The respiratory system is centered on the lunges on the lungs which work to get life-giving oxygen into the body. Thwy alsorid the body of waste products, cordon dioxide
Endocrine system
Many body prosses such as growth and energy production, are directed by hormones. These chemicals are released by glands of the endocrine
Digestive system
The digestive system takes in the food the body needs to fuel its activities. It breaks the food down into units called nutrients and absorb the nutrients into the blood
Urinary system
The body’s cells produce waste products many of witch are eliminated in urine. The job of urine and expel it from the body.
Tissue
Cells group together to form tissues, each with specific functions. Connective-tissue is the most widespread; it separates and supports other other tissues and organs, and include cartilage and bone. Adipose tissue is packed with fat cells, witch provide energy storage and insulation. Epithelial tissue protects and lines the surface of many body organs. Other types include muscle the nervous tissues.
Organs
Tissues are grouped together in the body to form organs. These include the brain, hart, lungs, kidney, and liver. Each bodies organs has a specific shape and is made up of different types of tissue that work together. For sample the hart consists mainly of specialised types of muscle tissues, which contracts rhythmically to provide the heart pumping action. But it also contains nervous tissues, with carres the electrical signals that bring about the contraction, and is lined withepithelial tissue
