Endocrine system
Includes all of the glands that secrete hormones
- hormones travel around the body & target cells for action
- hormones alter the functions of organs
Cardiovascular system
Includes heart, veins, arteries, capillaries, & blood
- the heat pumps blood through blood vessels
- blood carries nutrients, hormones & waste around the body
Lymphatic system
Includes lymph vessels, lymph nodes, lymph fluids, thymus, & spleen
- transports tissue fluid to blood
- carries fatty fluids from digestion to blood
- helps prevent/fight infection
Digestive system
Includes mouth, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, & pancreas
- breaks down food into smaller parts to be absorbed into the body
- some organs also produce hormones & functions in the endocrine system
Urinary system
Includes kidneys, ureters, bladder, & urethra
- removes wastes from blood
- maintains body water concentration
- sends waste & excess water out through the urethra
Muscular system
Muscles are the organs of this system
- Contractions of muscle provide
movement
- Maintain posture
- Main Source of Heat
Respiratory system
Includes lungs and throat
- move air into the lungs to provide oxygen to the body
- removes carbon dioxide from the body
Reproductive system(Male)
Includes scrotum, testes, prostate, penis, urethra
- deliver sperm to female reproductive tract
Reproductive system(Female)
Includes Ovaries, Uterus, Vagina
○ Maintain eggs (oocytes)
○ Transport female sex cells
○ Receive male sperm for fertilizer
