Orientated toward the midline of the body
Posterior
The back part of a structure, toward the back
Prone
A horizontal position, face down
Proximal
Near a point of reference
Sagittal
A body plane in which an imaginary line divides the body into right and left halves
Superior
Located above or toward a higher place
Supine
A Horizontal position, face up
Transverse
At right angles to the long axis of a part
Ventral
Toward the anterior surface of the body
