Flexion
In elbow joint when front arm and forearm move close to each other
Extension
When extensor or dorsal surfaces are brought in as much approximation as possible
Straighten the forearm at the elbow joint
Abduction of shoulder
When limb is taken away from the body
Adduction of shoulder
When limb is brought close to the body
Flexion of shoulder
If arm is taken towards front of the chest wall
Extension
Arm is taken backwards and laterally
Circumdiction
It is movement of distal end of a part of the body in a circle. Combination of extension, abduction, flexion, and adduction in a sequence
Medial rotation of shoulder
When arm rotates medially bringing the flexed forearm across the chest
Lateral rotation of the shoulder
Flexed forearm away from the body
Supination
When the palm is facing upwards as putting food in mouth
Pronation
When the palm faces backwards or downwards
Adduction of digits or fingers
All fingers together
Abduction of digits
All fingers seperate
Opposition of thumb
When tip of thumb touches the tips of any fingers
Circumdiction of thumb
Movement of extension, abduction, flexion and adduction in sequence
