What is a body cavity
A body cavity is a space within a particular part or area in the body which contains certain organs
Types of body cavity
Cranial
Vertebral
Thoracic
Abdominal
Pelvic
Boundaries of the cranial cavity
Frontal bone, anteriorly
Occipital bone, posteriorly
Parietal bone, laterally
What are the cranial fossae
These are the three depressions in the skull: the anterior, the middle and the posterior.
Contents of the cranial cavity
The brain, the pituitary gland, olfactory lobes, brain stem, optic nerves, temporal lobes, cranial nerves, carotid arteries, the foramina
Boundaries of the thoracic cavity
Rib cage(ribs, xyphroid process, mandible/head and sternum), diaphragm, great heart vessels.
Contents of the thoracic cavity
Lungs, the heart, Great blood vessels.
Contents of the abdomen
Colon, kidneys, Gall bladder, intestines, stomach, the descending aorta, liver, caecum,appendix, gall bladder, pancreas, spleen.
Explain the descending aorta
This is a part of the aorta of the heart. The other two parts are the ascending aorta and the arch of the aorta.
At what point does the descending aorta cut through the diaphragm.

What are the contents of the following:
Right hypochondriac region

Spleen, stomach, left kidney, pancreas

Liver, stomach, small intestine, small
