axial
Pertaining to the head, neck, and trunk.
appendicular
Pertaining to upper or lower limbs.
viscera
Organs in body cavities, especially in the abdomen.
ventral cavity
Human body cavity that is in the anterior (front) aspect of the human body. It is made up of the thoracic cavity, and the abdominopelvic cavity.
thoracic cavity
The space above the diaphragm in the chest.
left plural cavity
is the thin fluid-filled space between the two pulmonary pleurae (known as visceral and parietal) of each lung.
right plural cavity
is the thin fluid-filled space between the two pulmonary pleurae (known as visceral and parietal) of each lung.
Mediastinum
Tissues and organs of the thoracic cavity that form a septum between the lungs.
pericardial cavity
The space between the visceral and the parietal pericardial membranes.
abdominopelvic cavity
The space between the diaphragm and the lower portion of the trunk of the body.
pelvic cavity
The space between the hipbones that enclose the terminal portion of the large intestine, the urinary bladder, and the internal reproductive organs.
abdominal cavity
The space between the abdominal and the pelvis.
diaphragm
A sheetlike structure largely composed of skeletal muscle and connective tissue that separates the thoracic and abdominal cavities.
dorsal cavity
A fluid filled space which surrounds the brain and spinal cord of vertebrates.
cranial cavity
Houses the brain.
vertebral cavity
Pertaining to the spinal chords column.
oral cavity
Pertaining to the mouth.
nasal cavity
Space in the nose.
orbital cavity
Containing the eyes and associated skeletal muscles and nerves.
middle ear cavities
Containing the middle ear bones.
frontal sinuses
which forms the lower part of the forehead and reaches over the eye sockets and eyebrows.
sphenoidal sinuses
vary in size and shape, and owing to the lateral displacement of the intervening septum, which may insert on the carotid canal, they are rarely symmetrical.
