Dorsal
cranial (contains brain) and vertebral (spinal)
Ventral
Thoracic, Abdominopelvic
Thoracic
pleural cavities containing the lungs and a pericardial cavity containing the heart
Abdominopelvic
(stomach, liver, bladder…etc)
Diaphragm
sheet of skeletal muscle that divides the thoracic and abdominal cavities and is important for changing pressures in these cavities helping with ventilation of the lungs and return of blood to the heart
Mediastinum
the central region between the two pleural cavities which contains the heart, esophagus, trachea, thymus gland and blood and lymphatic vessels
Abdominal
divided into 4 quadrants(Right upper quadrant…etc) and contains the stomach, spleen, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, small intestine, most of the large intestine
Pelvic
contains urinary bladder, part of the large intestine and reproductive organs
