Q

what arteries supply blood to the upper arm?

A

starts at the subclavian artery, as it continues to it changes to the axillary artery, then to the brachial artery at the elbow and then it branches to the profundal brachii artery.

Q

what arteries supply the lower part of the arm?

A

the Brachial artery branches into the radial artery and the ulnar artery. then to the deep and superficial palmar arteries in the palm and to the digital arteries in the fingers.

Q

what are the upper limbs deep veins?

A

they’re lots of small accompanying veins that run next the arteries.
radial and ulnar veins, brachial veins(deep), axillary vein and then to subclavian vein.

16
Q

what other artery supplies the brain

A

the basilar artery which is formed by the union of vertebral and subclavian arteries

17
Q

what is the external jugular vein?

A

the external jugular vein contains the blood that drains from the face and the scalp. it then empties to the subclavian vein

18
Q

what is the internal jugular vein?

A

it contains the blood that’s drained from the brain.

19
Q

what’s the brachiocephalic vein?

A

its the joining of the internal jugular vein & subclavian vein. on both the right and the left side

20
Q

what’s the thoracic aorta

A

its the continuation of arch of aorta

21
Q

what does the thoracic aorta branch into?

A
oesophagus
pericardium
bronchi
thoracic wall
diaphragm
22
Q

what veins supply the thorax?

A

the right and left brachiocephalic veins which join at the superior vena cava which returns the blood to he right side of the heart.

23
Q

what supplies the gut and its associated organ?

A

the 3 anterior branches supply them

24
Q

what supplies the foregut?

A

the coeliac trunk/axis supplies the foregut which includes the stomach liver gallbladder pancreas and spleen

25
Q

what supplies the midgut?

A

the superior Mesenteric artery supplies the midgut. which includes the first bit of the small and large intestine.

26
Q

what supplies the hindgut?

A

the inferior Mesenteric artery supplies the hindgut. this includes the colon and the rest of the intestines.

27
Q

what do the lateral branches in the abdominal aorta supply?

A

Suprarenal- suprarenal gland
Renal
Gonadal- Ovarian and testicular.

28
Q

what do the posterolateral branches in the abdominal aorta supply?

A

the lumbar artery supplys the blood to the body wall

29
Q

what does the abdominal aorta bifurcate to?

A

it bifurcates into the common iliac artery. the external iliac supplies lower limb and the internal iliac supplies the pelvic organs.

30
Q

what veins are found in the abdomen?

A

the external and internal iliac vein from the lower limb and pelvis join to make the common iliac vein. The right and left common iliac veins join and join the inferior vena cava.

31
Q

what other veins connect to the inferior vena cava?

A

suprarenal vein
renal veins
right gonadal vein
lumbar veins

32
Q

where does the left gonadal empty?

A

it empties straight into the left renal vein

33
Q

what is the hepatic portal system?

A

its where nutrient rich/ oxygen poor blood is drained from the gut into the livers capillaries.

34
Q

what veins are involved in the hepatic portal system?

A

the inferior mesenteric vein drains into the splenic vein that joins with the superior mesenteric vein, which then drains into the hepatic vein then into the vein then into the hepatic veins and finally into the inferior vena cava

35
Q

what are the arteries in the lower limb?

A

it starts with a branch of the common ilia the external lliac artery then it becomes the femoral artery it branches into profunda femoris artery which is a deep vein that supplies the posterior structure. then becomes the popliteal artery behind the knee joint

36
Q

what arteries supply the lower part of the lower leg?

A

the popliteal artery splits into the anterior tibial artery which goes into the dorsalis pedis. and the posterior tibial artery which becomes medial and lateral planta artery.

37
Q

what are the superficial veins in the lower limb?

A

short saphenous vein empties into popliteal vein its posteriorly and only to the calf.
great saphenous vein- longer from the big toes run posteriorly at the knee joint and empties to femoral vein.

38
Q

what are the deep veins in the lower limb?

A

anterior and posterior tibial veins, popliteal vein, femoral vein and the external iliac vein- drains lower leg.
