What is the Tae Kwon Do belt rank system?

A

There are 10 grade levels called Gups of colored belts below black belt.

10th Gup white belt is the lowest and 1st red black belt is the highest. Gup level belt colors may vary by school except for 10th go up white.

There are 9 Degrees called Dans of black belt. 1st Dan is the lowest and ninth Dan is the highest. Master level is fourth Dan.
