- turn it on
- follow the prompts
- pt in water, pull out and dry before using AED
pads may not stick to hairy chest
defib- helps to terminate the abnormal rhythm so a normal one can take back over
if AED doesn’t analyze, resume chest compressions
don’t shock with oxygen flowing over chest (can explode)
what to do if pt has pulse but not breathing
1 breath 5-6 seconds or 10-12 per minute
