PPE, label hazards, controls to prevent exposure, Hepatitis B vaccination, medical evaluation if a worker is exposed.
What are Universal Precautions?
Assume all blood (pee, poop) are infected and use precautions like PPE to protect yourself
What are the most common Bloodborne pathogens?
Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV
What can you do to protect yourself from Bloodborne pathogens? (Universal precautions)
Assume blood and bodily fluids are infected, use PPE, wash hands, don’t eat or drink around blood or body fluids, put needles in sharps container and don’t empty sharps container
What should you do if you are exposed to blood or body fluids?
Wash the area, your hands, face, eyes and report it to your boss
What is your employer required to do if you are exposed to blood or body fluids?
Give you a free medical exam and lab test
