Blood Supply to Brain Flashcards
What supplies the rostral 2/3 of the pons?
Basilar artery
What supplies the caudal 1/3 of the pons?
Anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA)
What supplies rostroventral part of the cerebellum?
Anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA)
What supplies posterior part of the cerebellum?
Posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA)
What supplies the medulla?
Vertebral and posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA)
What are the axon bundles, glands and blood vessels that are around the cavernous sinus?
III, IV, VI, opthalmic V, maxillary V, pituitary gland, internal carotid
Sympathetic pathway to head
1) pregang neuron in thoracic to superior cervical ganglion
2) Superior cervical gang to carotid plexus on internal carotid
3) Carotid plexus to cavernous sinus
4) Cavernous sinus to ciliary ganglion, NO SYNAPSE
5) Terminate in smooth muscles near/in eye
NTs used by sympathetic neurons?
Pregang to gang: Ach onto nicotinic receptors
Gang to target: NE on alpha 1 receptors
NTs used by parasympathetic neurons?
Pregang to gang: Ach onto nicotinic receptors
Gang to target: Ach onto muscarinic receptors
