What is the top Blood Pressure Measurement
Systolic. It measures the pressure in the arteries when the heart beats (muscles contract).
What is the bottom Blood Pressure Measurement
Diastolic. It measures the pressure in the arteries when the heart is at rest, in between beats.
What is a “Normal” Blood Pressure Reading?
Systolic less than 120 and Diastolic less than 80
What is a PreHypertension BP Reading?
Systolic 120-139 and Diastolic 80-90
What is Stage 1 High Blood Pressure Reading?
140-159 over 90-99
What is Stage 2 High Blood Pressure Reading?
160 and above over 100 or above
What is a Hypertension Crisis Reading?
Systolic over 180 and Diastolic over 110
What is a Low Blood Pressure Reading or Hypotension?
Systolic is less than 90 and Diastolic is less than 60.
