- blood sugar below 70 mg/dl
- acute onset
- shakiness, irritability, confusion, diaphoresis, anxiety, fatigue

A
- too much insulin
- oral hypoglycemic
- not eating enough food when insulin peaks
- exercising without adequate glucose stores

What is hyperglycemia?
A
- blood glucose above 120
- slow onset
- blurred vision, polyuria, fatigue, dry mucous membranes, fatigue

What causes hyperglycemia?
A
- inadequate amount of insulin or oral hypoglycemic
- infection
- stress

Nursing interventions for hypoglycemia?
A
- evaluate LOC
- glucose testing
- admin 10-15 g of glucose orally
- recheck in 15-20 min
- repeat if needed
- review diet
notify MD if worsens

- check for sliding scale orders
