Blood Cells Flashcards
Leukocytes
White blood cells, 2 categories granulocytes and mononuclears, five different kinds under these categories
Erythrocytes
Red blood cells. Carry oxygen from the lungs to through the blood to all body cells.
Thrombocytes
Platelets, CLOTTING CELLS
Eosinophils
Granules stain red with acidic stain. Granulocyte.
Basophiles
Granules stain blue with basic stain. Granulocyte
Neutrophils
Most important DISEASE FIGHTING CELLS and the MOST NUMEROUS. Refered to as polys or polymophonuclear. Granulocyte.
Phagocytes
NEUTROPHIL that EATS. Engulfs and digests bacteria.
Granulocyte
Contain dark-staining granules and have a multilobed nucleus. Formed in bone marrow
Mononuclear cells
Have on large nucleus. Formed in bone marrow, lymph nodes and spleen. There are two types.
Lymphocytes
Fight disease by producing antibodies, destroying foreign cells. Mononuclear cell.
Monocytes
Engulf and destroy cellular debris after neutrophils have attacked foreign cells. Mononuclear cell.
