I’ve before and after, rotate sites and pressure for 10sec

1% Protomin sulfate
How long does it take for Coumadin to take effect?
12-24hours

What monitoring is necessary for patient on anticoagulants?
Monitor PT and INR for Coumadin, PTT for heparin, bleeding, bruising, and any signs of bleeding.
How can iron affect your stool ?
Constipation and dark/tarry stool
What inhibits and increases absorption of iron?
Inhibits: dairy and anti acids
Increases: vit.C and empty stomach
What technique is used to administer iron IM?
Z track to keep iron in place to prevent irritation.
Side effects to neoplasticism drugs?
Anti cancer drug
Depresses bone marrow (RBC, WBC, platelets) , anemia, infection, bleeding, can irritate GI, nausea, vomiting, irritated mouth, hair loss, anorexia
Purpose for enteric coating?
Prevents irritation of stomach and releases in small intestines
What should the nurse include when teaching patient about Coumadin?
Not to eat iron rich foods (green leafy vegs) cause vit K is the reversal agent of Coumadin
Common side effects of opioids?
Respiration depression, constipation and nausea
What are hemostatic agents used for?
Stops flow of blood. Can be give PO, injection and foam
