Blocks 1 & 2 Flashcards
What is the Green liquor A-test?
It is the strong green liquor density test, that is ran twice per shift.
What is the process for determining sulfidity?
[(C-B)x2] / A =Sulfidity
What is the minimum acceptable sulfidity?
26%
What is the process if sulfidity gets low?
Add “NASH” AT ROUGHLY 2GPM. Max 4gpm
What is the typical steam pressure applied to the shattering steam lances?
150 psi
What are the safety concerns relating to smelt and green liquor?
they can cause chemical and thermal burns. Another major concern is that a smelt water reaction can occur.
What is the purpose of the scrubber?
to remove particulates (saltcake) and gases (TRS)
What must the operator do at the smelt dissolving tank to ensure on TDC green liquor density is indicating properly?
Rod out the density pots. this is done on each round.
What is the source of weak liquor for the #2RB?
The Causticizing weak liquor tank
What is the back-up system for the smelt dissolving tank scrubber, and when should it be put in service?
The Demister. It should be put in service if the scrubber vent fan isn’t functioning properly and not able to pull gases /particulates out. The scrubber is better with just water than then the demister on water. Call Ray Perry
What are our environmental permit operating guidelines relating to the SDT scrubber?
The Mact2- 3hr average of 71gpm(recorded every15min) and the Title 5- 12hr average of 71 gpm
What is the centerline range for the A-test?
36%-42% density
What is the centerline for sulfidity of the green liquor at the smelt tank?
26%-32%
What does WLSP stand for?
White liquor standpipe
What does SMT mean?
Smelt Dissolving Tank
