Who runs CIC?
TAO
JIC function?
Resp for the collection, display, and dissemination of intelligence info including the briefing & debriefing of pilots prior to & after missions, including the Prelaunch Brief to embarked squadron via Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV)
EW
Electronic Warfare
Electronic warfare reports to who?
The ew module reports to the TAO as a part of the CIC Watch Team.
EMCON
Electronic Emission Control
Why do we set EMCON?
To electronically disguise the ship by shutting down all the transmitters.
What are the weather phenomena on flight ops?
Lighting & electrostatic discharge
Hail
Icing
Turbulence
Explain lighting & electrostatic discharge.
Aircraft build up charge as they fly through the clouds. The larger and faster the craft aircraft the greater the charge.
What are the two types of aircraft accidents?
Lighting strikes & electrostatic discharge.
What conditions do lighting strikes occur?
- Within 8c of the freezing level
- Within about 5,000’ of the freezing level
- in precipitation including snow
- in clouds
- in turbulence
What can lighting do to aircraft?
Cause serious structural damage to the aircraft, as well as damage to electrical systems including, instruments, avionics, & radar.
What is the worst hazards of thunderstorm flying?
Hail, it occurs during the mature stages of cells having a strong updraft.
What are the 4 degrees of icing?
Trace, light, moderate, & severe
What are the four degrees of turbulence?
Light, moderate, severe and extreme.
What is the function of combat cargo?
Resp for the prep of ops orders, plans, directives, & correspondence in matters pertaining to the EMBARKATION, LOADING, STOWAGE, UNLOADING, & DEBARKATION of personnel, supplies
