Command
Is the LEGAL AUTHORITY exercised over subordinates by virtue or assignment.
Control
is the PROCESS AND SYSTEM by which commanders plan and guide operations.
C2
is the exercise of authority and direction by a properly designated commander over assigned and attached forces in the accomplishment of the mission.

Joint C2 structure
consists of C2 functions from the highest level of authority, POTUS, down to the SECDEF, DoD
JCS (joint chiefs of staff)
Chairman joint chief of staff, Vice chairman JCS, CSA, CMC, CNO, CNGB, CSAF.
National Military Command System (NMCS)
designed to support the POTUS, SECDEF, and JCS in the exercise of their responsibilities.
What does the NMCS consist of?
NMCC (located in pentagon), NAOC (aircraft), GOG ( Offut Nebraska) and ABNCP (aircraft)
Unified Combatant Command
Broad continuing mission, 2 or more military components (one commander for BOTH components) and ran by President.
Subordinate Unified comatant command
focus on a PORTION of the mission
Joint task force (JTF)
Specific part of mission and operates under a temp basis.
Specified Combatant command
Broad continuing mission and composed of forces from ONE U.S. service, none are currently active.
Combined command C2 structure
consists of forces from more than one allied nation, normally function under terms of a treaty, alliance, or bilateral agreement.
Joint force commander (JFC)
CCDR of a unified COCOM, sub-unified COCOM or a JTF.
Commander of Air Forces (COMAFFOR)
The Air Force commander of the AF component assigned to a JFC at the unified, sub-unified, or JTF.
